The maternity wear
industry in Australia and abroad just keeps going from strength to
strength, and as a result we are seeing some truly beautiful trends
coming up for the second half of 2011! Of course, there are trends for
different stages of pregnancy as well as trends for different occasions,
so we're going to try and share with you 5 different up-and-coming
fashion trends that'll have you in the know this season!
Trends for Early Pregnancy
You
know how it is--you're a few months pregnant but you're not quire ready
to tell your boss and coworkers yet, but those skinny jeans just ain't
doing up these days! In order to stay on-trend but remain comfortable,
2011 early-pregnancy trends include leggings, jeggings, tunic tops and
layers. The 2011 winter collections have seen a dizzying array of
beautiful tights and leggings--from animal print to lace-trim to the
thicker 'jeggings' variety (have we mentioned how much we love these?) it's all about the stretchy pants, and we couldn't be happier about it!
Couple body-con bottoms with long flowing tops that hide bumps and bums.
For work attire, if your office is particularly formal, tights with
structured yet a-line tunic dresses that fall just above the knee are
bang on trend.
Trends for Late Pregnancy
Once
the world knows about your pregnancy you're free to explore fashion
that not only sows your growing bump, but celebrates it. A lot of women
feel incredibly feminine (understandably so!) during the later months of
pregnancy and therefore the empire line (a pregnant woman's best
friend) is an ever-versatile style that can be translated and adapted
each season. This season, empire lines are taking the form of 60's-style
jackets which flow out in feminine A-line shapes, knits with ties and
wrap dresses in deep autumnal colours like burgundy and brown.
2011 Trends: Swimwear
Maternity swimwear
can be a bit of a hassle, especially as your ever-changing body
requires different support at different stages of pregnancy and beyond.
Last-season's emerging one-piece trend has carried through to 2011 but
the styles of one-piece that are available in maternity lines are much
more accessible than in previous years.Go for a halter-top style with
think, adjustable ties that can be altered both at the neck and the
back. This allows you to go for extra room around the tummy but keep
those boobs supported, both during your pregnancy and later, during
breastfeeding. For those who are looking for a classing bikini or
tankini, bottoms are running a little bigger this year, with a more
retro 50's and 60's inspired figure.
Just
because you're pregnant, there's no reason to miss out on the latest
trends. With 2011 bringing diversity and pregnant-friendly styles across
the board, now is a great time to be rocking that maternity style!
