Felicia: Week 19 - Is it a boy or girl? TweetPin It Posted on 20/11/2013 in Pregnancy & Baby Last week we had our 19 week ultrasound - the one where we can find out if we’re having a boy or girl. Everyone wants to know, including me, everyone that is, except my husband. At our 12 week scan, I was sure I would have enough time to convince my husband that we really should find out - after all, I wanted to be prepared. Before I knew it, the 19 week scan came around and I found myself going with the flow and that we would just find out when we found out - for me that meant, if I just happen to find out at one of my obstetrician appointments then that was a sign I was meant to find out! And if not, if it’s at birth, then that would be when I find out… I guess it’s a good little incentive to get that kid out as quickly as possible, right?!? We had our mid-pregnancy ultrasound done at Sydney Ultrasound for Women and when asked if we wanted to find out the sex of our baby by the sonographer - my husband was quick to answer with a “No!” Admittedly, just before our appointment I felt I was not as excited about the scan as I thought I would be since I knew I wasn’t about to find out if I was going to have a boy or girl - but of course that wasn’t the real point of this important appointment! It’s to make sure the baby is growing well, that it’s got 5 fingers, arms and legs and all the other bits are there that are meant to be there. But, as soon as I sat on the bed and had that gel squirted onto my tummy - the anticipation and excitement of what we were about to see hit me. Oh! There’s the baby… *Big grin*. This time we could see the heart beating much clearer now - Phew! It’s still there and I’m not just getting bigger for no reason. It certainly looked like it had grown and we could see the bones now! The sonographer tells us to shut our eyes as she examines ‘that’ area. Should I peek?.... It’s really so fascinating and surreal that there is a little human being growing inside of you. Pretty amazing actually of how nature works its magic and the technology of ultrasounds so that you can see this little baby wave its hand at you! I have a CD of images, a little printed photo of the little bub and a DVD - really cool as I can watch it move again! I can’t wait till I can finally FEEL it move! Excited!! Felicia.
