Being a mum, what am I looking forward to most? That's a tough one, at least for me. This is my first baby, I am due in July and I am terrified. Am I going to be a good mum, am I going to have a good relationship with my child, am I going to repeat my parent's mistakes, is she going to see right through me? My husband and I have been together for 10 years and it seemed like it was never a good time for a baby, so much responsibility, so many questions, so many unknowns and insecurities. I have gone through this over and over in my head, am I really ready, is there such a time when you truly feel ready as we are talking about a tiny little being that will count on us and depend on us forever! For me, this is an overwhelming experience. I suppose all I can honestly say is that I will make sure I do all that I can to give my baby the best possible life I can, filled with unconditional love, to make her know that I will always be there for her when and if she needs me, to keep her safe and teach her good values so she grows up in a strong and caring young woman. I suppose that's all any of us could hope for, for their children to be happy, healthy and strong. I think that's actually THE thing I am looking forward to most: watching my daughter grow up into a good human being and taking the best from what life has to offer. I suppose there is a little bit of selfishness here, on my part, but can't help not smiling when I think about it. :-)
