We hope this maternity jeans style guide helps you to make an informed decision on which pregnancy denim to buy for your style/shape.Some important tips from me when choosing jeans:1 stay with your regular AUS pre-pregnancy size unless indicated on the product description (as a general guide - for Mavi, Seraphine + Maternal America they are a slightly generous fit so order a size down, James Jeans, JBrand and Esprit run true to size) (as a rough guide my size is generally size SMALL 10 Australian - I fit Maternal America XS, Mavi 26, James Jean 27, JBrand 27, Esprit S, Seraphine XS)2 if you choose the larger size you may find them too big in the bottom and thighs, and will be hitching them up all the time, as most maternity jeans sit underbelly3 the jeans may feel a little snug at first but remember that the denim will give with each wear and wash4 an important care factor - to retain the longevity of any maternity jeans with stretch panels please remember to pull them up by the denim only, not the fabric panel which is delicate5 compare belly buttons! nearly all our jeans are photographed on real pregnant women. if you compare belly buttons then you can see where they will sit on your body and how low they sit at the back. if you are not used to low waisted hipster styles then choose the jeans with the all round belly bands
the mavi jeans sit much lower in the diagram than the james jeans brand with an all round waistband that sits higher at the rear
Here at Queen Bee we have built up a strong reputation over 7 years for stocking the best selection of maternity jeans in Australia! If you ever need any assistance we are just a phone call away on 1300 PREGGY (773 449) or please send us a message and we'll be happy to help!
These jeans have an all round elastic waistband at the top of the jeans. The waistband sits underbelly as you get bigger. It is usually not noticeable under tops.
These jeans have side stretch panels that expand with your tummy - from the back they look just like your regular jeans. Great for ladies who can't take alot of pressure on their belly
These jeans have no panel but sit underbelly with plenty of stretch in the denim to support you to 9 months! Most denim jeggings are designed like this.
- these styles provide firm underbelly or overbelly supportTIP: if you don't like any pressure on your belly then choose jeans with side stretch panels or no panel styling.- the elastic panel at the back ensures a supportive fit at the rear and not needing to hitch the jeans up every time you get up and down (like some lowrise hipster styles)
- these styles are the closest thing to your regular maternity jeans as the side panels are quite discreet and blend in with the design- these styles tend to sit much lower on the hips and rear (refer to diagram above)- the side panels stretch comfortably and make the jeans easy to take on and off
- these styles may have discreet elastic sewn into the top part of the jeans- they look just like your regular jeans and are perfect for post partum wear- most denim jeggings have no panel and they sit comfortably underbelly
