Every Mother Counts - Summer of Sisterhood

Every Mother Counts are celebrating the Summer of Sisterhood. This year's annual Summer of Sisterhood theme is little more relaxed with a nod toward summer fun, lazy days and ways to make meaningful connections with our sisters, mums, friends and the issues that are important to us. EMC has created the 2nd annual Summer Bucket List of fun actions that elevate these connections while raising awareness around maternal health.

We'd love for you to join us this summer and help spread the word to your network and “sisters". Whether that sisterhood includes family, neighbours, teammates, female colleagues or your social media community – ask them to join you in activities that pull us all together.

Pick a book: Every Mother Counts is curling up with a good book. Every Wednesday, that week’s book choice is announced and with some time to read it, there will be a book club “meeting” on that book. Some of the meetings will take place via Google chat, hosted by Every Mother Counts’ staff along with the book’s author and EMC supporters and partners. Other meetings will include interactive Q&As, where readers pose their questions and we interview the authors to get their answers. Invite your sisters to join us and stay tuned for opportunities to win autographed copies of some of the books by participating in our book club through social media.

Go To The Movies: If you’re more of a film critic than a book reviewer, gather your sisters for movie night. Break out the popcorn and then host a conversation about how it relates to motherhood, sisterhood and the ties that bind us together. Cuddle up with your daughters and their friends for some films that highlight strong female role models for our young ones.

Take Us On Vacation: Kick off your travel plans with this list of top vacation destinations around the world. Where ever you’re traveling, share your vacation photos on Instagram and tag @everymothercounts with #SummerOfSisterhood. Feel free to share information about where you come from or live. Journeys can take almost any form and don't even require travel. By sharing your stories, we can travel vicariously too.

Songs of Summer: You’ll need some tunes to go with all these activities. Download tunes from Every Mother Counts Compilation CDs or from ReverbNation and part of the proceeds goes to EMC programs that support mothers and sisters who need us.
